self portrait tuesday
can you guess the challenge?!? that's right!! - make new friends and keep the old.i like this because it is really two challenges in one. you've been challenged to answer the questions: who is an old friend? who is a new friend? how long have you known them? what brought you together? have you drifted then reconnected? where do you meet new friends??
Since my last post just happens to fit nicely into this weeks challenge, I will count that as my “making new friends”. I love meeting new people and learning about them. My life is touched and has been touched by so many wonderful friends. Which started me thinking about my “old friends”. So many memories came to my mind as I reminisced about the friends I have had throughout my life. I have had some pretty loyal, lasting friendships. I can count many that I am still friends with that I knew in grade school. But as I started looking at old photo albums, I picked one friend to spotlight that has been there through so much with me. I am wondering what her reaction will be as I post these pictures and memories. She is and always has been a beautiful person inside and out. So she shouldn't be the one who cringes at these pictures. As you will see- it is I that needs to be afraid!! But what can you do. You just have to embrace the awkward years- which lasted a long time for me! Well my friend Natalie…( or A.K.A -ding dong, ding a ling, wah wah, boogie baby) here it goes. Yes I may have gone a bit overboard- but I couldn't help myself. Do these bring back any memories? Lets take a stroll down memory lane.

8th grade graduation (Jodie is in the middle)
We spent many summers in Rocky Point. Fun Times.
Natalie's parents own and run the Rockin R Ranch and this is a photo we got to be in for their brochures. I thought I was cool! We used to spend many nights there working together.
We played tennis together in junior high and high school.
This is how our friendship was. I was so painfully shy and insecure she was so NOT- that often it was her leading me. I held onto her for a lot of her strengths. She never let me down. The photo was taken at a youth conference event.
A photo taken with our group of friends in high school. We had some amazing friends. (We are the 3rd from the right.)

High School Graduation
We share the same distaste for tomatoes. Here we were having a contest to see who could eat one. I think we both spit them out.

How many Judds concerts have we been to? And how many times did Julie take us to follow their tour bus afterwards like we were stalkers. Remember all those times? This picture was taken in front of Wynonna'a harley.

She was still my friend even when I wore these hideous glasses! I can't even remember what concert this was at?
I will never forget her running down the airport terminal because I was about to board the plane to leave on my mission. I was SO happy she made it in time.
Natalie's wedding day.
She flew down from Utah to be at my wedding. (3rd from the left)
