Funny Boy

So Wyatt is almost 2 1/2 and we have been wondering how long it was going to take him to figure out how to get out of his crib. He never really tries. Then one day Chris said to him if he wanted out he had to get out himself. I thought- great- that's the end of it. But he still won't get out unless we tell him. I took these last night of him climbing out just laughing at himself thinking he was being sneaky. He thought he was pretty funny.

A cool monsoon rain

So what do you get when you combine:
1. many HOT AZ summer days
2. Kids that have been couped up in the house
3. A 15 minute monsoon down pour
4. A backyard that is half dead grass and half dirt
Yep- two exited kids who can actually go outside to play- in the mud no less. I didn't care- I was just happy to see them be able to go outside And boy did they have fun.

Kate thought it would be funny to paint her brother with mud! It is kinda funny!! These pictures crack me up. If you look closely you can even see mud on his teeth.

Monkey see- Monkey do!

This morning I found Wyatt in my bathroom doing this...

He is using my pumice stone. I guess his feet need a little exfoliating!!
It is too funny to see the things they imitate!

Friday Night Birthday Bash

Last night Wyatt had 3 sets of grandparents, 1 great uncle, 3 uncles, 2 great aunts, 3 aunts, and 11 cousins at his(and Chris's) birthday party. So including us that is 30 people. We don't have a very big house so it was a bit crowded, a bit chaotic and a bit loud at times- but we love the company!

Opening presents

This is Wyatt walking around to everyone showing them his card from the first present we opened. I had to keep waiting for him until he showed everyone the cards so we could open the presents. It was so cute. I ended up opening most of them myself for him because he was too busy with everything else going on in the house. He didn't seem to have time for presents
Great grandparents- gave him one duck and one bear hooded towels. very cute. Here he is tonight after his bath showing them off.

Grandma and Grandpa Kersey gave him a plate/cup/bowl/silverware set from the movie cars and a shirt. They also bought part of the swing set dad made for the back yard- just in time for the party.

Wyatt got cute clothes from Grandma and Grandpa Standage, the Hansens, and the Shellenbergers. Uncle Jason, Aunt Vanessa and Cousin Boe gave him a fishing game.

From Uncle John and Aunt Karen he got a couple books and Aunt Katie gave him some money!

This was a photo I attempted to get of the four 2 year olds (plus Kate who insisted on being in the photo). Makayla wasn't too happy about the idea. Makayla and Wyatt are now 2 and Boe will be in July and Bryce in August.

Birthday Boys

Happy Birthday to Daddy and Wyatt!!!
I can't believe my little guy is 2 today! Its fun that he shares his birthday with his daddy. We will be having a party for them Friday night, but I wanted to post a Happy Birthday to them both today.

Grandma came over this morning while I went to work and brought him a new toy saw to add to his growing collection of toy power tools- just like his dad. When I came home I brought a bouquet of balloons. He was excited to see them and grabbed them from me as I walked into the room. One hit the ceiling fan and exploded which scared him to death and now he won't touch them.

A few weeks ago Chris and I had bought a tricycle for Wyatt and I had hid it in my closet with a blanket over it. Well last night I found Wyatt in my closet about 10:15pm with the blanket thrown off the bike and him sitting on it. I walked into the closet and looked at him. He looked up at me with those cute eyes and with a look on his face that said "Look what I found Mom." I couldn't help but laugh. I quickly called Chris into the room and said- Go look what your son found. We both laughed at him and I quickly snapped some pictures. We had to give it to him now. So he got his birthday present early. Hopefully I can keep the rest hidden for the party on Saturday.
Yesterday Wyatt had his two year checkup. He did great- didn't even cry when he got his shot. Then we took sister to the dentist for a cleaning. She did awesome too. Does exactly what they ask her to do. She had hit her front tooth a while back and it is turning gray and getting loose. I keep telling her that if she doesn't stop sucking her thumb- her tooth will fall out. I told her that just to see if she would stop. It hasn't worked yet. But yesterday the dentist said her thumb sucking could possibly speed up the process of losing the front tooth. I guess I was right after all! I have to say we have the BEST dentist. I highly recommend Dr. Quackenbush if anyone needs a kids dentist. He is so great.

swimming

After Kate's dance recital we went over to grandma's to go swimming. The temperature here has now reached over 104 degrees this week. Augh! Here comes summer.

At about where the shadow is on this picture is where the step reaches. Kate doesn't leave this area at all. She swims back and forth. She has mastered this step that is only about a foot deep. Chris had told her that she couldn't ride in grandpa's boat until she learns to swim. So according to her- she can swim now. She said to grandpa- "Look grandpa, I can swim. I ride in your boat now?"

(She starts swim classes June 5th. I bet she will be surprised to find out what it means to know how to swim!)
Wyatt thought it was fun to splash mom.

His reaction to getting me wet!

Saturday Morning

Chris was up first thing this morning and outside working before all of us even got out of bed. This is typical though- especially for a Saturday morning. He is a busy body who likes to work. We are lazy bodies who like to SLEEP!! Wyatt got me up at 7:45 and we looked out the back door and found daddy gearing up to cut down the palm tree in the back yard. We sat out on the patio to watch. Kate wasn't too far behind. It was a BEAUTIFUL morning. It didn't take Wyatt long to run in the house and grab his gloves as soon as he saw daddy wearing his. He was ready to help. That is until Chris started up the chain saw. Then he wasn't so sure. For some reason he got really upset when he saw the top of the tree come down. After that- he was right there to help. Chris loves his little shadow and so do I. It is just so fun to watch them.

Good Find!

After Kate's dance class this morning we ran and got Wyatt a haircut. I just love little boys with a nice short haircut. The style now with all these teenagers is the long shaggy look. I hate it. Anyway- after that we ran to Costco. Sometimes that can be overwhelming with my two. I wanted to post about a good find there today. I came across this organic trail mix that is sooo yummy. If you are looking for a good healthy snack- I highly recommend this. It is definitely worth the $10.

Spring or Summer???

Is it Spring or Summer- I can't tell???? With our 90 degree days it is feeling like summer already. It has been so warm that the kids are already wanting to go swimming. The water is still cold but it doesn't seen to bother them too much. I just hope it cools down for Easter.

We went to Chuck e Cheese today with the cousins. Tracy and the kids, Jamie brought Brett and Taylor and Vanessa brought Boe. Grandma came too. You could tell it is spring break because the place was packed. We stayed a couple hours before heading over to Grandma's to swim. My kids are both worn out and asleep right now. It is only 6 pm so I will have to wake them here in a bit or else they won't be tired for bed later.

I was sure to bring my camera to the park this morning. It is a good thing too. We met some friends from the ward there for a play date. The kids were having so much fun. At on point, my friends little girl had to go to the bathroom so she took her over to the tree. My kids were both fascinated by this. They stood there staring and watching her go to the bathroom by the tree. I think it was the first time they had ever seen such a thing. I could tell the wheels were turning in their little heads. Then Kate thought that was such a cool thing that all of a sudden she had to go also. She ran over a started striping off her clothes before I could stop her. Instead, I grabbed the camera. I was laughing so hard. I took a picture then went over a put her clothes back on her. (She didn't have to go- just really wanted to). Next thing I know Wyatt is over at the same tree taking off his shorts. I am not sure if that was such a good thing for them to learn. (By the way-it was the little neighborhood park and we were the only ones there.) I took the liberty of editing the photo :0) I am just afraid now that every time we go to the park Kate is going to want to pee on a tree.

The girls thought it would be a good idea to pull the wagon to the top of the hill and ride it down. We were a little nervous at first but the wagon never tipped. The laughed and screamed all the way down. It gave them a fun little ride.

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Of course if Kate got to sit in the tree, then Wyatt has to sit in the tree. At least he posed for me. Check out the knees. Nothing stops this kid. He goes 100 mph and sometimes his feet can't keep up. He may whimper a bit after the fall, but then keeps on running. He's one tough kid. And such a joy.
